save health care for hundreds of thousands in washington

Federal cuts under H.R. 1 have already taken health coverage from tens of thousands of Washingtonians, and hundreds of thousands more are at risk in January. State leaders can still act.

The No Cuts to Healthcare Coalition unites Washington organizations to close the gap now, and to win progressive revenue in the 2027 legislative session so this never happens again.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO

HEALTH CARE IN WASHINGTON

H.R. 1 is a federal law that makes the single largest cut to Medicaid in history. Its cuts are already hitting Washington families, and more are coming.

The people losing care first are those already at risk: low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and lawfully present immigrants we welcomed as refugees, asylees, survivors of trafficking, and humanitarian entrants from Ukraine and other conflicts.

When people lose coverage, their health needs don't go away. More people end up in emergency rooms or on the street, costs rise for everyone, and rural hospitals feel the strain first.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR

We need all Washington state policymakers- the Governor, legislators, and statewide elected officials- to address this crisis with policy and revenue solutions.

Now: We ask the Governor to use every tool available to restore care for Washingtonians who lost it on October 1, and to prioritize this funding in his upcoming budget.

In the 2027 legislative session: We ask legislators to keep health entities accountable for our taxpayer dollars, hold corporations responsible for their fair share, and raise targeted health safety net funds so all Washingtonians can get the care they need.

Who We Are

The No Cuts to Health Care Coalition unites health care providers, labor unions, immigrant rights organizations, disability and aging advocates, and community groups across Washington State.

We came together when federal cuts threatened to strip care from our neighbors. Now that those cuts are here, our work is twofold: restoring care for the people who have already lost it, and winning the lasting revenue Washington needs so our health safety net isn't at the mercy of the next federal cut.

We believe no one should go without health care — not because of where they were born, how much they earn, or their disability status.
